Martial Arts

Aikido Program at the Jackson YMCA

Discover the art of Aikido at the Jackson YMCA, a non-competitive martial art rooted in the philosophy and traditions of the Japanese Samurai. Unlike other martial arts focused on fighting, Aikido emphasizes harmony and cooperation, where two participants train together without the notions of winning or losing.

This practice not only offers effective self-defense techniques but also promotes discipline, respect, and personal growth.

Our Aikido classes are led by Mark Reitmeier, 3rd Dan, a certified instructor with the Aikido Yoshokai Association of North America. With over two decades of experience and training that includes a 20-month intensive instructor program (Kenshu), Mark continues to hone his skills at the Aikido Yoshokai Association headquarters in Ann Arbor.
